What is the Best Way to Clean Your Ceramic Tile Floors?

Ceramic tile floors are a wonderful option for those that want beautiful floor covering that is going to be durable and long lasting. There are a few different ways that you can clean and care for your ceramic floor tiles and knowing how to take the best care of them possible is going to extend the life of your floor.

The first step is to find a cleaner that is both nonabrasive and that cleans deep down. For your tile you want to find a gentle cleaner that is going to remove the grime and build up without damaging your soft ceramic tiles. Generally, if you get to messes as soon as they happen, warm water and gentle detergent are enough to remove the mess and keep your floor from staining.

For deeper stains in unsealed tiles, you may have to purchase specialty cleanser that is made just for ceramic tiles. In most cases, your ceramic is going to be sealed so wiping with warm water from time to time or with gentle detergent is going to be enough to clean them. However, there are some considerations for cleaning out the grout in your ceramic tile floors.

For starters, grout is not sealed in most cases and as such is porous which means that it does take in stains and odors and can become discolored and very dirty very quickly. You can buy specialty grout cleaner that is meant to clean your grout but if you prefer something that is more natural, a paste of baking soda and vinegar on a toothbrush or grout brush is enough to clean and deodorize your grout.

You can also use a bleach and water solution if it is applied only to the grout and is wiped away when you finish scrubbing. Generally, you want to find a cleanser that is going to be gentle yet effective and that is not going to break down or damage the tile. Wiping and cleaning your tile every few days it optimal to keep it from staining or becoming discolored.
